1927 Wallis 20-30 Tractor
This tractor (serial #54238) was made by the J. I. Case Plow Works Company in Racine, Wisconsin. The J. I. Case Plow Works Company – not to be confused with the J. I. Case Threshing Machine Company – was created in 1919. Before that time, the Wallis tractor was produced in the J. I. Case Plow Works for the Wallis Tractor Company, a firm created by Henry M. Wallis, Sr., the son-in-law of J. I. Case and president of the plow works. In 1928, the company was purchased by Massey-Harris, the builder of another tractor here in Stuhr Museum's exhibit.
This particular Wallis tractor has a patent date, Nov. 28, 1916, which corresponds to patent 1205982. This patent was for a tractor engine developed by Clarence M. Eason and Robert O. Henderson, assignors to Wallis Tractor Company of Racine, which you can view as a pdf here.
The Wallis 20-30's Nebraska Tractor Test was #134, performed from April 29th to May 10th, 1927. You can view this test as a pdf by clicking or touching here. Thanks to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, you can see the test results for any tractor submitted to testing. You can look through a brochure for the Wallis 20-30 as a pdf, also provided by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, by clicking or touching here.
