1914 Case 12-25 Tractor

This tractor (serial #2798) was made by the J. I. Case Threshing Machine Company in Racine, Wisconsin. From 1914 to 1918, Case built about 4,000 12-25s. As smaller tractors became more popular, Case replaced the 12-25 with the much lighter 9-18, which appeared in 1916, and the 10-18, which appeared in 1918. This 12-25 weighs about 9,000 pounds; the 10-18 weighs about 3,830 pounds. In 1916, a Case 12-25 cost $1,350, with a 10% discount for payment with cash.
With humble beginnings, Jerome Increase Case began producing threshers in the 1840s. In 1880, Case organized the J. I. Case Threshing Machine Company, a company that would be on the leading edge of not only the threshing machine market but also the tractor and other agricultural equipment markets. As you walk around this exhibit, you might notice that Stuhr Museum has three different Case tractors as well as a steam engine and threshing machine.

  1. I had the pleasure of visiting your museum last summer after making the trek from Winnipeg to Grand Island for the Red Power Round Up. Was pleasantly surprised to find a 12-25, they are not common! I operate one at the Manitoba Agricultural Museum. You have a fantastic exhibit there, loved your museum!
